Unyielding Commissioning Digs Anybrow Comedy
Rat farts! Apparently Ratatouille is like really freaking good. Folks all over the interwebs are raving about the little guy. And it's no surprise. Patton Oswalt always delivers. I generally wait for video on these Pixar movies, but it's got a freaking 9.0 on the IMDb. Plus, my good friend and highly sensible critic Madison gave it very high marks. Perhaps I'll have to hit a multiplex. Incidentally, Transformers is also being reviewed well, so perhaps I was too quick to condemn it. Even Ebert gave it a thumbs up. I would think that this one has to be seen in the theater to get its full impact. Maybe I have to get over my Michael Bay disdain...
Any last requests, Mr. Carew? The Copacabana is closing (hat tip: BV). It's not all that notable, I suppose, but I had a radio show in college and a dude would call up every single week requesting Copacabana by Barry Manilow. We would have been willing to play it, but it was nowhere to be found. Eventually (and I mean after like three months), he stopped calling. But one day, my partner was digging through the "Good Life" section, and he stumbled across the record. We played it on the off chance that he was still listenting. The dude called in all excited, "Oh my God. Thank you so much! This is great!!!" I still can't figure out why he called during the song that he was so intent on hearing. Maybe it actually was Barry Manilow? That's my Copacabana story.
Toga! Toga! Toga! New Smashing Pumpkins video is below. You can also go to Spinner.com and listen the whole durned album if you want. I'm waiting until the CD comes out to give it my full attention.
