The scene where Harvey gets shot ruined it for me. Sean Penn stopped being Harvery and started being his character from Mystic River.
It is harsh to ruin a movie for 10 seconds but in this case, that is all it took.
I still haven't seen Mystic River, but I also felt like in the last ten seconds, he broke character and the movie lost its bearings, too.
Actually, I felt like he was breaking into his "Sam" character at various points throughout the movie.
And as far as who deserved best actor - Penn did a very solid job in this film, don't get me wrong, but Rourke WAS the Ram. He wuz robbed.
