Ridiculous is a better word. I give that sucker a 29. Pales in comparison to The Prestige. I like to associate those two.
The Prestige was so constantly in love with itself that it never bothered to tell a story (not that this one doesn't have some similar issues). Clearly they should be associated since they came out at almost the same time.
What's interesting to me is that I haven't met anyone who thinks they were equally good, but it seems that people are evenly split on which one they liked better. Someone could do a thesis on this...
From what I can remember, I think it was more that they never explained how he (talking about The Illusionist) was performing his ludicrous illusions that no one can even do today. He had some drawings or something. I really can't remember and I am not about to revisit it.
Although loose, I think there was a story to The Prestige.
Illusionist - love story w/ no sparks, twist u saw coming, bad CGI substituting for real magic.
Prestige - fascinating; obsession gone mad in an age when science was magic and no one was sure whether it was all real or not!
